> **Repository:** [gianni-rosato/av1an-command-gen](https://github.com/gianni-rosato/av1an-command-gen) (Archived). A tool for easily generating Av1an commands for AV1 encoding. Written in Zig. Last commit: Apr 26, 2024. License: BSD-3-Clause. Stars: 11.

av1an-command-gen is a command-line program by Gianni Rosato, written in Zig, that prints an [Av1an](/tools/utilities/av1an/) command for aomenc, SVT-AV1 or rav1e. You give it the source resolution and frame rate, the encoder, a speed and a size target; it fills in tiles, lag-in-frames, CRF and preset. It was aimed at beginners, similar to [rAV1ator CLI](/tools/utilities/rav1ator-cli/), and does not look at the source file itself.

```sh
av1an-command-gen 1920 1080 24 svt med low
```

The arguments are `width height fps encoder speed bitrate_target`, where `encoder` is `aom`, `svt` or `rav1e`, `speed` is `slower`, `slow`, `med`, `fast` or `faster`, and `bitrate_target` is `lowest`, `low`, `med` or `high`. Building it needs Zig 0.11.0 (`zig build`, output in `zig-out/bin/`). BSD-3-Clause licensed.
